Welcome to the Fishinfiddler Rod Company website. On my 5th birthday I received
a violin and a fishing rod, and that pretty much established my life’s passions.
As a professional musician, I have owned and played many fine violins, but
I never felt compelled to make one. On the other hand, the first time I laid
eyes on a bamboo fly rod, I knew I had to build one. After many years of
building graphite rods, restoring old cane and dreaming, I
finally put together a rod
building shop and threw myself into it.
ROD LINES
I offer a traditional array of fishing rods, built with the finest
materials, state-of-the-art methods, and the utmost attention the detail.
My output will
be modest to start, but will reflect my lifetime of fishing experience. Each
of my rod lines is named for a bird one might encounter while fishing that
rod. Part of the joy of fishing is being out there in nature and seeing
these animals,
and in naming my rods for them I pay them homage. I have vivid memories of
each of the birds pictured in this catalog; 2 male kingfishers in a territorial
squabble
while I fish for small brown trout in western Massachusetts; the distinctive
song of the redwinged blackbird heard in childhood while fishing Kansas farm
ponds; the struggle to head off a frigate bird off Marathon Key on my 15-foot
Boston Whaler, and the reward of a nice sized dolphin when I succeed. The
wraps on each rod mimic the bird for which it is named, but
I’m happy to entertain
suggestions for custom orders.
MY GUARANTEE
I am offering a complete, unconditional 5-year guarantee
on the first 100 rods I sell. I fully expect to see some
of these rods come back to me and
I want
to know how they are holding up. I want people to fish my rods, not leave
them in
a closet. Fish it. Use it. Dare I say--abuse it. I’ll fix it. After 5
years my standard guarantee will be in effect: a 3-day unconditional
return policy;
1-year
guarantee against defects or breakage during normal usage; then a lifetime
(or as long as I can make rods) section replacement policy, for original
owners, for $250, provided that you send me the original section.
